Yoga in itself is a science of health management rather than a method of treating disease. When yoga is combined with certain healing and therapeutic modalities, it increases the effectiveness and efficiency of those methods. Yoga can also increase health, general wellbeing and longevity. It does this by removing tensions, calming the mind, and improving vitality. Yoga generally enhances our lives on all levels.
From ancient times human beings have searched for "wisdom" and tried to connect with a "higher consciousness". Different names have been given to this search. Wars have been fought over the differences. Countries have united over the similarities. In the philosophies of the East, one strand has consistently run through the different schools of thought. This strand is the instinctive knowledge that we need to discipline the body, still the mind and look within us to find a higher consciousness.Yoga with its postures and breathing techniques, and Meditation with its myriad ways of achieving inner awareness bring with it the possibility of accessing the energy that seem to bind all things in the universe together.
Millions of people worldwide are discovering the ancient Asian tradition of yoga and meditation, and see for themselves on the real medical benefits.
Hatha Yoga can take you there, whilst filling your entire being with love, light and compassion.
There are several forms of yoga apart from Hatha yoga: Sankya, Raja, Kundalini, Gnana, Bakti, Karma, Avatar, Mantra and Tantra to name only a few. The essence of all these different forms of yoga is sometimes referred to as "Viveka" which denotes "peace, calmness and happiness". It has been claimed by some yogis that we are living in an "Aviveka-world'" which is the opposite of Viveka. Aviveka denotes that our minds are on fire, are confused and depressed. According to these yogis what our Aviveka-world needs right now is a large dose of Viveka.
